Truman LeRoy McNitt, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Morningside Health Services. Truman was born February 25, 1934, in Madison, to the late Edwin and Annabelle (Varley) McNitt. He joined the United States Army and proudly served from 1954 to 1956.
Truman owned and operated McNitt Steeplejack Services for many years, working on many churches around Sheboygan and Milwaukee Counties. Truman was an avid Packer fan, win or lose, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Truman is survived by his children Debra McNitt (Thomas Jefferson), Jody (Ricardo) Montemayor, Peggie McNitt Medina, Robert (Caitlin) McNitt, Matthew (Amanda) McNitt, Truman (Angela) McNitt, step-daughters Heidi Freeman and Tammi Schwab, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He is survived by his sister Fay (Richard) Attewell, nieces and nephews, first wife June Thill and second wife Patricia Hummitzsch.
Along with his parents, Truman was preceded in death by his two sons Timothy and Michael McNitt, granddaughter Candace Jefferson, grandson Cameron Freeman, sisters Dorothy Krenitz, Ethel Johnson, Helen Brendenmuehl, Harriet Gore, Lucille Soeas, Ruby McGrew, Jean McGregor, Edythe Wichern, brothers Lee and Clarence McNitt.
A celebration of Truman’s life will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Gravel Pit, 23203 Hwy 57, Kiel WI 53042. Family and friends are welcome.
