Valeria Bruesehoff

Valeria C Bruesehoff, Sheboygan, passed away on April 9, 2015, at Harmony Living-East of Sheboygan at the age of 91. Valeria was born on June 2, 1923, at Green Isle, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Minnie (Jaus) Thalmann. She was baptized on June 10, 1923, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, by the Rev. H. J. A. Bouman. She attended Emanuel Lutheran School and was confirmed on March 21, 1937, by the Rev. Bouman. She was a 1941 graduate of Glencoe High School. She continued her education at Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota. Later she graduated with a B. A. in Education from Lakeland College and an M. A. in Reading/Language Arts from Cardinal Stritch University. On June 23, 1946, she was united in marriage with Albert Bruesehoff at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg, MN. Their marriage was blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. They lived in Winona, MN, Elgin, MN, St. Paul, MN, Jacksonville, IL, and Oconomowoc, WI, moving to Sheboygan in 1963. Both Valeria and her husband taught in Lutheran schools, her last teaching position being at Trinity Lutheran School, Sheboygan, until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she substituted in the Lutheran schools in Sheboygan, and also did private tutoring in reading. Valeria was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Sheboygan chapter of People to People, the Mayor's International Committee, the Valparaiso guild, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Richard (Naomi) Bruesehoff, St. Paul, MN; the Rev. Mark (Diane) Bruesehoff, Marmora, NJ; two daughters, Judith (Jon) Koenig, Michigan City, IN; Kristin (Robert) Sturgeon, Portage, IN; 10 grandchildren, Nathan (Beth) Bruesehoff, Renton, WA; Dr. Peter Bruesehoff (Christopher Butler), Fitchburg, WI; the Rev. Christopher (Jamie) Bruesehoff, Vernon, NJ; Emily (Michael) Johnson, Hamburg, NJ; Sara Bruesehoff, Marmora, NJ; Gretchen Bruesehoff, Burlington, NC; Joshua (Dana) Koenig, Kalamazoo, MI; Jason Koenig, St. Louis, MO; Erik Sturgeon and Lauren Sturgeon, Portage, IN; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Leila Skoda, Union City, TN; one niece, two nephews, many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and her husband. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Timothy J. Mech and the Rev. John Berg co-officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service. Inurnment will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia, WI, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sheboygan Area Lutheran High School, or Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
