Viola Marten

September 15, 1911 — February 13, 2015

Viola Helen (Wickesberg) Marten, 103, passed away Friday evening, February 13, 2015 at Harvest Home in Howards Grove. Viola was born September 15, 1911 in the Town of Herman to Theodore and Helen (Kenter) Wickesberg. On February 1, 1936 Viola Wickesberg and Paul H. Marten were united in marriage at Immanuel United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1987. Viola was employed by Lakeland College, formerly known as The Mission House. She was a member of the Women's Guild, Franklin Homemakers, and the Howard's Grove Senior Center. Most importantly Violas was a faithful, lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Viola is survived by her three children, Janet Limberg, Frederick Marten, and Elizabeth DiVita; six grandsons, Todd (Lynn) Marten, Tim (Jennifer) Marten, Gary Limberg, Dale (Stacy) Limberg, Shawn (Stacy) Marten, and Eric (Laura) Robinson; nine great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Erica, Emily, Sara, Charles, Allison, Megan, Samuel, and Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews, and faithful, lifelong members of Immanuel United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, Paul, Viola was preceded in death by her two sons-in-law, Marvin Limberg and Joseph DiVita; a daughter-in-law, Martha (Siemers) Marten; three sisters and their husbands, Edna (Oscar) Franz, Ruth (Calvin) Stuckmann, and Esther (Arvin) Gutenberger; three brothers and their wives, Herbert (Hazel) Wickesberg, Walter (Alice) Wickesberg, and Paul (Vera) Wickesberg; and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Irma (Carl) Dannenberg and Hilda (Paul) Reineking. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, W3694 County Road FF, Plymouth, WI 53073. Rev. Laura Yurs, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at church. Burial will follow at Immanuel U.C.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Viola's name. Viola's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Harvest Home, Bancroft Haus, and the caregivers of Heartland Hospice for all the care and compassion shown to Viola. The family also wishes to convey their sincere appreciation to all the friends and members of Immanuel U.C.C. for their numerous visits with our mother.
