Violet Kind

Violet Marie Kind was born to eternal life on Wednesday, November 25th, 2015 at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family. Violet was born to Dorothy (Schmidt) and Stanley Carroll in Harbor Springs, Michigan on June 11, 1920. Weighing under two pounds, her Grandma fashioned her first bed out of a cotton-lined shoebox. Violet grew up a happy, healthy, athletic girl who enjoyed school, sports, friends, and summers on her Grandma's farm. She was active in Turners where her favorite event was the uneven bars. At Central High School, Violet studied the business curriculum, was a reporter for the Lake Breeze, and graduated in 1939. She continued her business and bookkeeping studies, graduating from the Sheboygan Vocational School. Violet worked in a variety of jobs, including as a clerk at McLullans Department Store as a high school student, a long distance operator for the telephone company during WWII, and as a bookkeeper at J.C. Penney Co. until she retired. She enjoyed bookkeeping and worked through a period of rapid change, going from using manual adding machines to calculators to early computers that took up an entire room. Violet started dating her beloved Leroy Kind during her time at Central High School. They enjoyed long walks, bike rides, dancing, playing games, ice-skating, going to the movies, etc. Leroy Kind and Violet Carroll married on May 10th, 1941 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church where Violet was also baptized and confirmed. Leroy and Violet lived a happy and busy life with their five children: four sons and one daughter. Violet was busy with her growing family, enjoying baking, cooking, gardening, canning, freezing fruits and vegetables, being a scout leader, being a room mother, playing an active role in her childrens PTA, all supporting the activities of her family. Violet enjoyed music, family times at the cottage, reading, learning new things, and partaking in special times with family and friends. In all the stages of her life, Violet used the Bible as her guide and always remained close to God. Violet was active in her church, always ready to help others. She was a B negative blood donor, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, took time to visit the sick, worked at the voting polls, and kept a warm, loving home that welcomed all who entered into it. Violet spent the last years of her life at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. The family wants to thank the kind and compassionate caregivers who did so much for their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother over the past decade. We also want to thank Dr. Bettag and Dr. Kerpe. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Leroy (1983), her first born, Timothy, and other friends and relatives. In the years after Leroys death, Violet filled her life enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Violet is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Kind-Keppel (James Keppel) of Grafton, WI, and three sons, Thomas Kind (Dawn) of Sheboygan, WI, Terry Kind of Waupan, WI, and Tracy Kind of Sheboygan, WI, ten loving grandchildren, and eight wonderful great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by a half-sister, Janet Bostwich of Boise, ID, and other relatives and friends. Violets funeral will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer 3027 Wilgus Road, Sheboygan , Wisconsin 53081. Rev. Bryan Osladi, Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the Church from 9:00 am until the time of service.
