Virginia A. Papa, age 90, formally of Sheboygan, was called home to the Lord on June 2, 2014 with her daughter at her side. For the past ten years she has been in the loving care of the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. Virginia was the second born child of Alfred and Gertrude (Martini) Baumann. The family moved from Wausau to Sheboygan when Virginia was in the eighth grade. She attended Holy Name School and graduated from Central High School. On June 1, 1946, Virginia and Ermino P. Papa were united in Holy Matrimony at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Ermino preceded her in death on November 12, 1992. Throughout her life Virginia was an active volunteer in the community. Girl Scouting was always a part of her life. She met her husband while working at the Deland Girl Scout house while he was stationed in Sheboygan with the US Coast Guard. She continued with the Girl Scouts for nearly 40 years as a camp leader, troop leader, neighborhood chairman and Manitou Girl Scout council member. She was also an active member of the St. Anne's Society, the St. Lawrence Seminary Guild and the Holy Name Church Choir. Virginia is survived by two children. Michael (Marsha) Papa, Woodstock, GA and Barbara (Leonard) Bogenschutz, Howards Grove, WI; six granddaughters; Jill (Frank) Mc Garvey, Grayson, GA, Jamie (Andrew) Waskey, and Josie (Scotty) Booth both of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Janet (Jonathan) Schmitz, Port Washinton, WI, Jeanna (Mark) Goodman and Jennifer (Bernard) JohnBaptiste both of Plymouth, WI; Eight great-grandchildren. Braeden Mc Garvey, Jack Waskey, Andrew, Isabella, Ethan and Olivia Schmitz, Brenna Goodman and Israel JohnBaptiste; one brother, Daniel Baumann, Sheboygan Besides her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Baumann and Fr. Silas Baumann o.f.m. Cap, one sister, Barbara Goeden and many other family and friends. A time of visitation will be held at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center W2132 Garton Rd. (Hwy 42 & JJ) Howards Grove, on Friday June 6, 2014 from 5 PM - 7 PM. and continuing on Saturday from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM. at Holy Name of Jesus Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with Fr. Matthew Widder presiding. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Haven Christian Home and Serenity Hospice for their care and compassion for Virginia during her last days.
