Virginia "Fay" (Schroeder) Speckmann, 90, died peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Pine Haven Covenant Home in Sheboygan Falls, WI.
Born January 24, 1926 in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Virginia was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Conger) Schroeder. After graduation from Central High School, Sheboygan WI., she attended business school in Milwaukee. For a time she worked in West Allis and Milwaukee. Virginia was a stay-at-home Mother, and later worked at H.C. Prange Co. as a clerk in the credit office.
On April 24, 1948, she was married to Donald Speckmann in Sheboygan, WI at Wesley United Methodist Church. Donald preceded her in death on August 5, 2007.
Virginia enjoyed reading, working jigsaw and word search puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sheboygan, WI.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Rose) Speckmann, Sheboygan Falls WI., and Kathleen (Win) Kopka, Cecil, WI. She is further survived by grandchildren, Julie (John) Gebert, Sheboygan Falls, WI., Tori (Brandon) Munnik, Hingham, WI., Brian (Jessica) Speckmann, Charlotte, NC., Nicholas Kopka (fiancee' Tasha Dawson), South Milwaukee, WI. Eight great-grandchildren survive Virginia, Austin and Sophia Gebert, Adelyn, Bronson and Charleigh Speckmann and Keegan, Kylie and Kolton Kopka. She is further survived by her sister, Phyllis (Elwood) Anderson of Baraboo, WI., and niece, Michelle (Lee) Bushweiler, New Freedom, WI., and nephew, Joseph (Ann) Anderson of Verona, WI., and great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and special friend, Linda Frasch. Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethel (Conger) Schroeder, her mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Hattie (Kleinschmidt) Speckmann, and her niece, Cynthia Leary.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 12 o'clock noon at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan WI. Pastor Ric Olson of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at Ballhorn from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Sheboygan Falls, WI.
A special thank you from Virginia's family to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home and to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, for all of the loving care they gave her.
