Wallace Wippermann

Wallace H. "Wally" Wippermann, age 84, a longtime Town of Meeme resident, passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. He was born on September 20, 1928 in Plymouth, a son of the late Milton and Caroline (Ramminger) Wippermann, Sr. Wally attended school in the Osman area, working on area farms until he was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1951, seeing action in Korea. After his honorable discharge, Wally became an apprentice Mason, working for Hummitzsch Masonry for eight year. He was married to the former Betty Ellen Hinz on September 22, 1956. Wally and Betty purchased their farm in the town of Meeme in 1959, where they milked cows and cash cropping. They retired from the farm in 1993 and moved to their current home in Osman. Retirement did not slow Wally down. He joined the staff of Zimmer Funeral Home in 1993, and was an assistant to Mark Zimmer for 18 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Howards Grove where he had served as chairman of the congregation, was on the cemetery board, was an elder and men's consistory. He also was a member of the Trinity Men's Club and served as a delegated for Lutheran High School. Wally's passion was John Deere tractors, old or new, toy, pedal or power. He was very proud of his restored John Deere tractors, and was fully involved in the hobby as past president of the Lakeshore Two Cylinder Club. He had enjoyed tractor pulling at the county fairs. Wally and Betty could be seen at various tractor shows in the area, usually working hard to make everything run smooth. He had a twinkle in his eye when he would see one of his grandchildren driving his prize tractors. Family was important to Wally, and he was always involved with his grandkid's activities. Every grandchild received a pedal tractor on the day they were born. Wally and Betty enjoyed being with people, and were members of several card clubs. They enjoyed traveling with the Lakeshore Two cylinder club on various bus trips. Surviving Wally is his loving wife, Betty, his daughter and son-in-law; Janelle (Lance) Liermann of the town of Meeme, and his five cherished grandchildren, Carlea, Christopher (special friend Whitney), Jordan (special friend Ashley), Noah and Annika Liermann, a brother; Milton (LaVerne) Wippermann Jr. of Newton, and one sister, Gloria (Jerome) Casper of New Holstein, a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette (Willard) Kuhlow of Howards Grove, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also surviving Wally is his "second family", the entire staff at Zimmer Westview. In addition to his parents, Wally was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Louise Hinz, and an infant son, Gary. A funeral service will be held for Wally on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. Pastor Darrel Bergelin, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 4 until 8p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan and at the Church on Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of the services. Memorial funds have been established to Trinity Lutheran Church in the name of Wallace H. Wippermann. The Wippermann family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Sharon Richardson Community Hospice for the loving care Wally received as a resident, and all the family and friends that came to visit him.
