Walter “Wally” Weimann, 88, of Sheboygan passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Wally was born on May 30, 1934, in Sheboygan to the late Gottlieb and Amalia (Jorsch) Weimann. He was the sixth of twelve children. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Central High School.
On May 7, 1955, he was united in marriage to Theresa “Terry” Mueller. Wally served in the US Army from 1957-1959, where he was stationed at Fort Skill in Oklahoma. Wally and Terry spent a year living in Germany while he served. He was so proud to able to participate in his Armed Forces Pinning Ceremony on his last birthday. He worked for 37 years for the Sheboygan Public Schools and the Sheboygan Recreation Department. He was a member of St. John’s UCC.
Wally loved sports of all kinds. In 1953, he was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champ. He played softball, basketball, and football in Sheboygan Rec Leagues. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing Jarts with family and friends. If grilling brats were an Olympic Sport, he would have won the gold. He took being a Packer fan to a new level and was extremely proud of it. Wally has a sports bar in Denver, Colorado named after him, “Wally’s Wisconsin Tavern.”
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Terry; their children, Wally (Shiela) Weimann, James (Heather) Weimann and Lynn (Dan) Thornton; four grandsons, Brian (Amber) Weimann, Matt (Meghan) Thornton, Miller Weimann and Smith Weimann; four great-granddaughters, Addison, Avery, Riley and Olivia; five brothers, Robert (Nancy) Weimann, Carl “Cal” Weimann, Ken Weimann, Donald (June) Weimann and John Weimann (Sue Jones); three sisters-in-law, Jo (Charlie) Ford, Marge Federer and Terry Weimann; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and in-laws, David and Theresa Mueller-Daehnert, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Julie Weimann; six sisters, Lilly (Wally) Voss, Wilma (Robert) Fieck, Maria (Lyle) Wensauer, Doria (Ralph) Eirich, Helen (Eugene) Panzer and Joann (Earl “Jake”) Jacobs; three sisters-in-law, Carol Weimann, Hida Weimann and Leona Weimann; two brothers-in-law, John Federer and Ken Wentz and two nephews, Daniel Weimann and David Weimann.
A Funeral Service for Wally will be held at NOON on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at St. John’s UCC, 1248 Lincoln Ave. in Sheboygan with Rev. Judine Duerwaecter officiating with full military honors to follow. Family will greet visitors at CHURCH on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Wally will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Wally’s family would like to thank his team from Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassionate care they gave him. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wally’s name are appreciated to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
