Warren Hoffman

Warren D. Hoffman, 81, of Howards Grove, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at home. He was born November 14, 1932, in Plymouth to the late Harold and Florence (Payne) Hoffman. Warren graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving from 1952 until 1955. On April 4, 1953, he married the former Lillian Dallman-Johnson. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1995. He was employed by the Kohler Company for 43 years as a foreman in the foundry maintenance department. On April 13, 1998, he married Shirley (Gabrielse) Barthels. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed playing softball and basketball. Warren was an avid golfer and card player, winning many Cribbage tournaments. Warren always had a creative solution to life's little problems. He also was an avid reader of newspapers and magazines. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his three children, Jeff (Carol) Hoffman, Todd Hoffman and Julie (Jay) Kopidlansky; four grandchildren, Jennifer Dyke, Joey (Jess)Heinen, Josh (Joy) Heinen, Jill (Dennis) Guernsey; eight great-grandchildren; four step-children, Wendy Cadena, Jeffrey (Jodi) Barthels, Lisa (Gary) Barthels and Heather (Scott) Voskuil; nine step-grandchildren, Nicki (Seth) Damoose, Josh (Jessica) Barthels, Jess Barthels, Leticia Bilbrey, Stephanie Bilbrey, Lena Bilbrey, Mason Bilbrey, A.J. Voskuil, Annabel Voskuil; five step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Hoffman. A memorial service will be held for Warren on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Jon MacDonald from the Evangelical Free Church officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church and the Salvation Army. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Aurora VNA Hospice, Dr. Catherine Best and Dr. Steven Kream.
