Mr. Willis P. Moody, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2016 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. He was 87 years old.
Willis was born October 28, 1929 in Cornville, Maine, the youngest of 9 children to Ray and Lizzie (nee Churchill) Moody. He grew up on a farm, and upon graduating high school, attended Calvin College in Michigan where he studied education. Willis proudly served his country in the United States Army, before returning to Michigan. On October 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Angeline Van Der Weele in Cornville, Maine. The couple moved to Wisconsin in 1959 where they raised their family.
For over 20 years, Willis worked for the City of Sheboygan in the Parks Department. He was a member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, where he had been a greeter. Willis enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, doing yard work, reading and listening to music.
Willis is survived by his wife Angeline and their children: Joel (Gail) Moody of Sheboygan, Tim (Kay) Moody of Hartford, Jim Moody of Davenport, IA and Jeanne (Tom) Nock of Bettendorf, IA. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren: Eric, Kevin (Jennifer), Hannah, Zachary, Sarah (Tyler), John, Justin and Renee, great-grandson Quinn, 4 step-grandchildren: Robert (Cecilia), Ross, Rebecca and Rachel, brother Myron (Emily) Moody of ME, sister Amy Stevens of SD, sister-in-law Marjorie (Harold) Dorman of ME, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Willis is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Scott Andrew, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan. Pastor John Tinsley will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:30AM-1:00PM. Willis will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the missionaries of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church
