Willis Elroy Stolper, age 91 passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home early on Saturday, March 14, 2015. He was born in the Town of Sherman on October 13, 1923 to parents Arno and Cora (Kumrow) Stolper. He graduated from Random Lake High School. Willis completed Naval training at Iowa State College. Willis proudly served his country in the US Navy in WWII from 1944-1946 and served as shipboard electrician / telephone system repair aboard the USS Enterprise. He received the Captains Letter of Commendation for bravery. Following his time in the service he farmed until 1980. He also worked for 33 years for Bolens Corporation in Port Washington. Willis was a member of the American Legion and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Random Lake. He enjoyed farming, gardening and had a special skill for "fixing things." Willis is survived by sister; Janis (Willis) Liepert of Random Lake and Jean Partezana of St. Clairsville, OH, and brother-in-law Walter Friedemann of Random Lake. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Willis is preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Milton and two sisters; Marlene Friedemann and Laverne Myers. A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday, March 19 at St. John Lutheran Church, W5406 County Road SS, Random Lake from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon with Rev. Randal Schoemann presiding. Burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.
